Price Companies believes projects should be about more than short-term deadlines and quick profits. They should be about creating well thought-out and meaningful spaces that bring long-lasting value to the greater community and to the people who live, work and play there.

Over the course of almost twenty years, Price Companies has developed a highly successful process for creating viable public-private partnerships, and has become an expert in creative problem solving. Whether it’s in the form of public parks and greenspaces, transportation nodes, or solutions to complex systemic issues – the success of this process is due in large part to bringing the right people together to work toward a united goal.

The company has been involved in everything from the selection, acquisition, financing and development of projects to the construction, marketing, management and sale of numerous residential and commercial properties all over Texas – and the San Antonio-headquartered business has been highly successful along the way.

Over his 30-years in the real estate industry, Christopher Price has experienced the business from almost every side.

After obtaining his law degree from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio and being admitted to the Texas Bar in 1983, Price began his career as a staff attorney for the Texas General Land Office, where he dealt with a wide range of real estate and legal issues including tax free exchanges, entitlements, title issues and development agreements.

From 1985 to1998, he served as the Deputy Commissioner of Asset Management for the State of Texas Permanent School Fund (PSF), where he was directly responsible for establishing the division of Asset Management that centralized and actively managed the revenue-generating potential of PSF real estate holdings, and, later, that of all state-owned land in Texas. During Chris’ time as Deputy Commissioner, the Asset Management department disposed over 660 properties for more than $750 million, and acquired over 45 commercial real estate properties for more than $200 million. Notable projects include the master-planning, entitlement and development of Paseo del Este in El Paso, Texas as well as The Triangle and Central Park mixed-use developments in Austin, Texas.

In 1998, Chris formed Price Companies and embarked on projects including building spec and custom homes; repositioning underutilized retail centers; managing retail and commercial real estate operations; developing and managing commercial warehouse space and storage facilities; and developing residential lots.

Currently, Chris owns and manages ten self-storage facilities in Mississippi and Texas, as well as a San Antonio-based bike shop. He serves as the President of Schertz 1518, Ltd., which assumed control of a stressed 500-plus acre residential development in Schertz, Texas, redesigning, repositioning and rebranding it as The Crossvine, a master-planned community.
